Materials Quality Engineer I/II - Fort Worth District Laboratory (2501284)

Position Title: Materials Quality Engineer II/III (Transportation Engineer II/III)

Salary Range:

  • Materials Quality Engineer I: $5,425.33 - $8,886.16/month
  • Materials Quality Engineer II: $5,797.66 - $9,508.25/month

This posting is for one position at either Engineer I or II level, depending on qualifications and business needs.

Additional Details:

  • Salary Minimum: $65,104 annually
  • Salary Maximum: $114,099 annually
  • Pay Basis: Yearly
  • FLSA Status: Exempt

  • Travel: Yes, approximately 25%

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform transportation engineering work in planning, development, design, construction, traffic operations, or maintenance.
  • Ensure compliance with laws, policies, standards, and guidelines.
  • Interact with government officials and private entities.

Materials Quality Engineer II:

  • Perform complex engineering tasks independently, including planning and project oversight.

Materials Quality Engineer I:

  • Monitor material testing for compliance.
  • Develop/review engineering documents and reports.
  • Investigate material failures and review test data.
  • Review Plans, Specifications & Estimates (PS&E) submissions.

Additional Duties for Level II:

  • Advise on material and fabrication requirements.
  • Conduct on-site reviews and provide technical support.

Minimum Qualifications:

Engineer I:

  • Bachelor's in engineering or related science.
  • 4 years of relevant engineering experience.

Engineer II:

  • Bachelor's in engineering or related science.
  • 5 years of relevant engineering experience.

Substitutions for experience include graduate education. Valid driver’s license required. Professional Engineer license (PE) is mandatory. Additional certifications may be required depending on the role.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Construction policies, materials, and testing methods.
  • Engineering principles and project management.
  • Standards for bridges and transportation structures.

Physical Requirements:

  • Work in various environments, including outdoors.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs, walk long distances, wear protective gear.
  • Pre-employment physical and drug testing required.
  • Work on weekends and holidays, and outside regular hours.

Additional Information:

  • Full-time, regular, non-management position.
