Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Materials and Process Engineer to join our Mission Systems team in Woodland Hills, CA. The role supports definition of materials, processes, and manufacturing technologies for complex aerospace systems.

You will qualify new materials and processes, manage supplier test programs, and assist in design reviews and failure analyses. Onsite work with frequent collaboration across labs and supplier facilities is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or higher in Materials Science and Engineering with aerospace/defense experience.
• Metallurgy knowledge including ferrous/nonferrous alloys, heat treatment, corrosion and fatigue fundamentals.
• Hands-on metallography, sample prep and hardness testing.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and material specifications.

Responsibilities

• Define engineering requirements for parts, materials, processes and manufacturing technologies.
• Qualify new materials and processes; manage test and audit programs for suppliers.
• Support design reviews and failure analyses for metallic parts and processes.
• Coordinate lab activities and interpret test data for disposition.
