Job summary

Lyten is seeking a Materials Process Engineer to develop chemical processes for battery active materials and work with engineers to operate production-scale tools. You will drive process improvements, partner with vendors for custom equipment, and analyze data to ensure quality and performance of RD materials.

Ideal candidates have hands-on experience with production equipment, familiarity with coating and electrochemical testing, and the ability to work in a fast-growing manufacturing

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in a relevant field with 3+ years (or 1+ year with Master’s) of experience.
• Hands-on experience installing, testing, and troubleshooting industrial production equipment.

Responsibilities

• Develop chemical processes for battery active materials to meet requirements.
• Collaborate with engineers and technicians to operate production-scale tools.
• Champion process improvements and partner with external vendors for custom equipment.
• Analyze material data and apply SPC to troubleshoot out-of-spec lots.
• Build coin cells to quantify electrochemical performance of RD materials.
• Own preventive maintenance planning, spare parts, and equipment health monitoring.
• Follow safety procedures and wear protective equipment at all times.

Materials Process Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Develop chemical processes for battery active materials to meet application, product, and customer requirements.
• Collaborate with engineers and technicians to operate production-scale tools.
• Champion process improvements and partner with external vendors on custom equipment when off-the-shelf solutions don't exist.
• Analyze material characterization data and apply Statistical Process Control to troubleshoot out-of-spec lots.
• Build coin cells to quantify electrochemical performance of R&D materials.
• Own preventive maintenance planning, spare parts strategy, and equipment health monitoring.
• Follow all safety procedures and wear required protective equipment at all times.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., chemistry (electrical), materials science, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and chemical engineering) AND 3+ years of experience in a relevant field OR Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., chemistry (electrical), materials science, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and chemical engineering) AND 1+ year of experience in a relevant field
• Hands-on experience installing, testing, and troubleshooting industrial production equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with powder mixing, slurry, or coating processes.
• Familiarity with electrochemical testing techniques to screen new materials.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
• Be able to work in a lab standing up to 8 hours each day.

Compensations Range

The expected base salary range for this position is between $106,000.00 - $159,000.00 The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include location, relevant prior experience and/or education, or particular skills and expertise.

In addition to base pay this position is eligible for tier based bonus and equity, healthcare, dental, vision, corporate discounts, paid holidays, PTO and sick time, 401K, employee relocation plan (if applicable).

We generally do not negotiate on salary once we have made an offer. The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include location, relevant prior experience and/or education, or particular skills and expertise. New hires joining the company tend to be paid within the starting base pay range noted above, with opportunities to increase pay over time based on development of additional skills, competencies, and company-specific knowledge.
