Montezuma County is seeking a Materials Plant Operator to safely operate and monitor plant equipment used in processing materials. You will follow environmental and safety standards while ensuring efficient production and accurate data recording.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED and experience with plant operations or heavy equipment; strong safety focus and the ability to work independently or as part of a team are valued. Training opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience in plant operations, industrial equipment, or materials handling preferred.
  • Ability to operate heavy or mechanical equipment safely.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in varying environmental conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor plant machinery for optimal performance.
  • Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance.
  • Load, unload, and transport materials per procedures.
  • Record production data, equipment readings, and material usage.
  • Follow safety regulations including PPE and hazard protocols.
  • Identify and report equipment malfunctions or safety concerns.
  • Assist with plant housekeeping to keep a clean, safe environment.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to boost efficiency and quality.

Materials Plant Operator

Position Title: Materials Plant Operator

Location: Montezuma County Road & Bridge Department

Department: Road & Bridge

Reports To: Lead Foreman

Summary

The Materials Plant Operator is responsible for safely operating, monitoring, and maintaining plant equipment used in the processing, production, and distribution of materials. This role ensures efficient plant operations while following company, environmental, and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and monitor plant machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance to keep equipment in good working condition.
  • Load, unload, and transport materials following company procedures.
  • Record production data, equipment readings, and material usage accurately.
  • Follow all safety regulations, including PPE requirements and hazard awareness protocols.
  • Identify and report equipment malfunctions or safety concerns promptly.
  • Assist with plant housekeeping to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and production quality.

Schedule

Monday thru Friday 7:00pm to 5:00pm, On-Call for snow plowing in the winter.
