Job summary

Spectrum Staffing Services is seeking a Production Planner in New Jersey to develop and maintain production plans, balance delivery commitments with inventory targets, and coordinate across Purchasing, Supply Chain, and Operations to optimize material availability and capacity.

The role emphasizes strong analytical skills, BOM/MRP knowledge, and hands-on ERP experience to support forecast accuracy and on-time delivery for mission-critical products.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of production planning experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience coordinating product planning across the full manufacturing lifecycle.
  • Strong working knowledge of Bills of Materials (BOMs), material requirements planning, and production scheduling.
  • Hands-on experience using a fully integrated ERP system.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, critical-thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, respond with urgency, and resolve complex production or material challenges.
  • Effective cross-functional communicator with a collaborative, process-focused approach and continuous-improvement mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain production plans that balance customer delivery commitments, inventory targets, and manufacturing capacity.
  • Build efficient production schedules and release lower-level assemblies to support higher-level manufacturing requirements.
  • Review MRP signals and take action on planned orders, including expediting, rescheduling, or deferring work as demand changes.
  • Partner with Purchasing, Supply Chain, Operations, and customer-facing teams to align material availability with production priorities.
  • Monitor work-in-progress and address shortages, constraints, or inventory issues that could affect schedule performance.
  • Analyze planning requirements and refine MRP parameters to better align supply, future demand, and inventory turnover.
  • Adjust production plans for changing customer priorities, cancellations, revised schedules, and other business needs.
  • Contribute to monthly production forecasting and broader planning activities supporting operational goals.
  • Support inventory accuracy through cycle counting, inventory control practices, and resolution of material discrepancies.
  • Review bills of material, routings, drawings, and product structures as needed to support accurate production planning.
