Location: Santa Clara, CA (with oversight of Pflugerville, TX materials operations)

Materials Manager

Position Summary

The Materials Manager will play a critical leadership role at SilPac, overseeing all materials, procurement, and shipping functions across our Santa Clara headquarters and Pflugerville, Texas location. This individual will be a key contributor to purchasing and supply chain strategy, responsible for ensuring accurate inventory levels, managing supplier performance, and supporting production planning to meet strict on-time delivery requirements.

The ideal candidate brings strong experience in materials or supply chain management within a manufacturing environment, demonstrates exceptional problem-solving skills, and is highly proficient with ERP data navigation—specifically CETEC—and Microsoft Excel. This is a highly visible role that requires attention to detail, strong leadership, and the ability to manage complex projects while anticipating risks and mitigating supply chain obstacles before they arise.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Lead and manage the Materials and Shipping team, providing guidance, coaching, and accountability.
  • Serve as a primary support partner for Production Planning, Inside/Outside Sales, Manufacturing, and Shipping.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership by motivating teams, inspiring high performance, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Manage materials operations across Santa Clara, CA and Pflugerville, TX, ensuring consistency in process and quality.
Purchasing & Supplier Management
  • Oversee material procurement to support production, new product development, customer orders, and repair/service needs.
  • Manage supplier relationships, conduct supplier surveys and performance reviews, and maintain a reliable supplier base.
  • Negotiate pricing, delivery terms, and contracts to support cost efficiency and supply stability.
  • Resolve supplier-related delays, shortages, and quality issues, using strong problem-solving and escalation management skills.
  • Maintain purchasing records, documentation, and contracts within CETEC ERP and aligned filing systems.
Inventory, Data Management & ERP Analytics
  • Analyze data within the CETEC ERP system, creating meaningful reports and spreadsheets in Excel to support decision-making.
  • Monitor inventory levels and ensure accuracy through cycle counts and inventory audits.
  • Plan, monitor, and report on inventory levels based on customer demand and company targets.
  • Manage long lead-time and unique components, ensuring appropriate safety stock levels and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Oversee excess and obsolete material process with a focus on cost control.
Production & Logistics Coordination
  • Ensure materials flow seamlessly to support production planning and manufacturing schedules.
  • Coordinate logistics for incoming and outgoing materials, including freight, carriers, and internal deliveries.
  • Oversee the shipping department, ensuring compliant packaging, documentation, and shipping accuracy.
  • Manage materials quotations for customer programs, new projects, and R&D support.
Quality, Compliance & Process Improvement
  • Apply ISO 9001:2015 principles, including controlled processes, documentation requirements, and corrective action protocols.
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings, bill of materials, and revision levels to prevent material errors and delays.
  • Implement process improvements for purchasing, inventory control, supplier management, and materials workflows.
  • Identify risks in the supply chain and develop mitigation plans before issues impact production or On-Time Delivery.
Qualifications
Required
  • 5–7 years of experience in materials management, procurement, supply chain, or supplier management (manufacturing preferred).
  • Proven leadership or managerial experience in materials or related operations.
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and root-cause analysis skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, revision controls, and BOMs.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (CETEC experience is a strong plus).
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, reporting).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex, high-impact projects.
  • Knowledge of domestic and international shipping regulations.
  • Understanding of risk mitigation methodologies and supply chain continuity planning.
Preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5–7 years of experience in the semiconductor industry or a closely related manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working in ISO 9001:2015 environments.
  • Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement experience.
  • Hazardous materials handling/shipping knowledge (DOT/IATA/IMDG).
