Job summary

Abernathy, TX-based client is seeking an experienced Material Manager to support a large-scale data center construction project. This isn’t just a warehouse role; it requires understanding how material flow drives the construction schedule and turnover.

You will own receiving, inspection, inventory, storage, and distribution of materials, coordinate deliveries with procurement and field leadership, manage laydown yards, and track long-lead equipment like switchgear, transformers, UPS, and

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of material management, construction logistics, inventory control, warehousing, or supply-chain experience.
  • Construction experience — data center, mission-critical, industrial, electrical, mechanical, or large commercial projects strongly preferred.
  • Experience coordinating long-lead equipment and deliveries against construction schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Receiving, inspection, inventory, storage, preservation, and distribution of construction materials and equipment.
  • Tracking critical and long-lead equipment including switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS systems, PDUs, chillers, cable, controls, and mechanical equipment.
  • Coordinating deliveries with procurement, project controls, field leadership, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Managing laydown yards, warehouses, staging areas, and material locations.
  • Identifying shortages, damaged equipment, vendor discrepancies, and material-related schedule risks before they impact the field.
  • Maintaining accurate material, receiving, shortage, damage, and equipment documentation.
  • Supporting commissioning, turnover, spare-parts tracking, and final inventory reconciliation.

Pay Range: $35–$45/hour, based on experience

Our client is looking for an experienced Material Manager to support a large-scale data center construction project in Abernathy, Texas.

This isn’t just a warehouse role. We need someone who understands how critical material flow is to keeping a mission-critical construction schedule moving.

What you’ll own:
  • Receiving, inspection, inventory, storage, preservation, and distribution of construction materials and equipment
  • Tracking critical and long-lead equipment including switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS systems, PDUs, chillers, cable, controls, and mechanical equipment
  • Coordinating deliveries with procurement, project controls, field leadership, vendors, and subcontractors
  • Managing laydown yards, warehouses, staging areas, and material locations
  • Identifying shortages, damaged equipment, vendor discrepancies, and material-related schedule risks before they impact the field

What we’re looking for:
  • 3+ years of material management, construction logistics, inventory control, warehousing, or supply-chain experience
  • Construction experience — data center, mission-critical, industrial, electrical, mechanical, or large commercial projects strongly preferred
  • Experience coordinating long-lead equipment and deliveries against construction schedules
  • Ability to read drawings, equipment schedules, specifications, POs, bills of material, submittals, and packing lists
  • Strong Excel and material/inventory-management skills
  • Procore, SAP, Oracle, or similar system experience is a plus
  • Forklift and OSHA 10/30 certifications are preferred
