Contract Details
  • Position Type: Contract
  • Contract Duration: 12 months
  • Pay Rate: $45.00-$55.00 / Hour (USD)
  • Travel Requirements: Up to 20%; expense reimbursement provided; fleet truck provided
  • Conversion: Contract-to-hire potential for the right candidate

Job Summary

Responsible for managing material receiving, inventory, storage, and distribution across an evolving T&D and substation program. Requires T&D materials management experience, with responsibility for overseeing subcontractors, coordinating with the client and project teams, and ensuring materials are tracked, controlled, and available to support ongoing construction activities as projects are added to the program.

The Materials Manager is responsible for managing the receiving, inspection, storage, and transfer of all client-procured materials and equipment to subcontractors at the various project sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the receiving, inspection, storage, and transfer of all client-procured materials and equipment to subcontractors at the various project sites.
  • Direct and oversee the work of the Field Materials Coordinator, providing guidance, mentorship, and facilitating their development.
  • Analyze and present material status reports to validate and verify all shipments are delivered on schedule.
  • Advise the Procurement team of any developments that may impact the project cost, schedule, and client relationship.
  • Coordinate delivery schedules and timing between the job site and procurement.
  • Direct and oversee the receiving process for all incoming shipments of materials and equipment.
  • Implement, oversee, and administer all project materials reporting processes and procedures, including Material Receiving Reports (MRR) and Over, Short, and Damaged reports (OS&D), and distribute to the designated project and/or client personnel.
  • Perform inspections of all materials delivered to the project site.
  • Develop site logistics plans.
  • Develop, maintain, and oversee all project site warehouse facilities.
  • Develop, maintain, and oversee all project laydown yards.
  • Oversee the storage and maintenance of all materials and equipment as required by the specific project contract.
  • Assist the Quality Assurance/Quality Control manager with preventive maintenance and associated recordkeeping of all material and equipment in storage.
  • Oversee the transfer of custody of materials and equipment to the designated subcontractors at the project site.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all policies and standards.
Required Skills
  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with Primavera scheduling reports and other material/submittal tracker reports.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Must be team-oriented with good management skills and the ability to be self-motivated with little or no supervision.
Education Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
Required Experience
  • 11 years of direct materials management experience in the engineering and construction industry.
Work Environment / Physical Requirements
  • Up to 20% travel required.
