Job summary

Magna Exteriors in Highland Park, MI is seeking a Senior Materials Planning and Logistics lead to optimize inventory and ensure seamless material flow across the manufacturing network.

You will partner with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to drive continuous improvements, manage the MPL function, and mentor a high-performing team.

This role emphasizes data-driven decision making, MES/QAD expertise, and ensuring safety and quality in all materials management activities.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily inventory movements and scheduling across the facility.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy using QAD ERP and data audits.
  • Serve as the primary MPL liaison, addressing inquiries and resolving issues.
  • Monitor KPIs related to inventory, scheduling, and customer responsiveness.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the materials team.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and supply chain to optimize material flow.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare regular reports on inventory status and improvement initiatives.

  • Oversee daily inventory movements and scheduling, ensuring accurate and efficient materials management across the facility.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy through rigorous data management, auditing, and process improvements using the QAD ERP system.
  • Serve as the primary interface for customer Materials Planning and Logistics (MPL) concerns, promptly addressing inquiries and resolving issues to ensure superior customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor and achieve departmental KPIs related to inventory management, scheduling accuracy, and customer responsiveness.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans for continuous improvement in MPL processes.
  • Champion the plan for every part process, driving ownership and alignment across teams to ensure that each component is managed with precision.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to optimize material flow and support operational goals.
  • Analyze process efficiency and identify opportunities for cost reductions, waste elimination, and enhanced service levels.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements in all materials management activities.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high‑performing materials team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Prepare regular reports on inventory status, performance metrics, and improvement initiatives for senior management review.
  • Understand how the physical manufacturing processes link to the digital processes, enabling seamless integration and data fidelity throughout operations.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of Manufacturing Execution System (MES) processes, leveraging technology to drive real‑time visibility, traceability, and operational excellence.
