Job summary

Trane Technologies in Fort Smith is seeking a Materials Manager responsible for production scheduling, materials planning, inventory strategy, and site-wide material initiatives. This role also serves as a key driver of lean and continuous improvement, with KPIs including inventory turns and on-time shipping to the requested date.

You will lead the local planning function, align the production plan to the SIOP consensus plan, and collaborate with Global Procurement to optimize supplier

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a manufacturing environment with lean concepts.
  • 10+ years in materials management with lean, MRP, and supplier relations.
  • Minimum 3 years in managerial role standardizing planning and execution.

What's in it for you

Trane Technologies is hiring a Materials Manager in Fort Smith. The Materials Manager will be responsible for all production scheduling, materials planning, inventory strategy, and all materials project initiatives across the facility. This position is also a key enabler of lean and continuous improvement in the plant. Key performance indicators for this position are inventory turns, on-time shipping to requested date and/or order fill rate, and days past due for all products and lines for the site.

What you will do
  • Safety and Integrity.
  • Ensure that all activities are conducted in accordance with the company's policies and procedures and are in compliance with health and safety guidelines.
  • Primary point of responsibility for materials management including warehouse management and planning strategy for the entire site.
  • Ensures optimization of materials management activities including scheduling, purchasing, inventory planning, supplier performance measurement, and indirect materials management.
  • Responsible for the implementation, support and compliance of the Materials and SIOP standard work playbook processes and systems to facilitate the fulfillment process from production planning to material procurement and order management.
  • Plant logistics and material handling.
  • Lead the execution of receiving, shipping, warehousing, and production parts presentation using efficient and effective processes
  • Develop and drive countermeasures for underperforming key processes and/or material suppliers.
  • Continuous Improvement.
  • Leads/contributes to cross-functional initiatives such as improving delivery speed, on-time delivery, supplier integration, and lean processes in order to synchronize business processes and maximize inventory optimization opportunities.
  • Use lean 6 sigma tools when applicable.
  • Manage suppliers, materials and inventory in a manner consistent with the requirements of a Lean Six-Sigma manufacturing environment.
  • Provide required support to Global Procurement Commodity Leaders as needed during supplier selection process, as well as promoting APICS certification throughout the facility.
  • Ensure alignment of the production plan to the published SIOP consensus plan.
  • Technology.
  • Provide local leadership supporting the implementation and changes to business processes, planning systems, and ERP systems.
  • People Leadership and Development.
  • Leads local planning function and ensured that local planning teams are properly organized, staffed, skilled, and directed.
  • Guides, motivates, and develops direct and indirect subordinates within HR policies for the benefit of both Trane and the employee.
What you will bring
  • Bachelor’s Degree required, or equivalent work experience.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in the integrated functions of materials management in a manufacturing environment that has embraced lean concepts, MRP manufacturing practices, and progressive supplier relationships.
  • A minimum of 3 years in managerial experience focusing on standardizing planning & execution, reducing sourcing complexity, and talent development.
  • Experience with rate-based or flow line (non-MRP) and job shop manufacturing environments.
  • Experience in operations, inventory management, MRP, visual management systems, scheduling, and lean manufacturing processes.
  • APICS certification preferred.
  • Oracle experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and leadership skills highly desired.
  • Must be team oriented with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels within the facility/Corporate /customers, etc.
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks, changing priorities and perform well under pressure.

Annual Base Salary Range or Hourly Base Pay Range: $83,600.00 - $151,479.99 Compensation Type: Salary Incentive Eligible: No Sales Commission Eligible: No Disclaimer: We strive to provide competitive compensation for this position, tailored to a variety of factors.
