FT , Day Shift
Position Summary
This position assists the Materials Manager in the overall operation of the department in accordance with established policies, using current technology and providing world-class customer service, and functions in the manager’s absence to help assure adequate supply for continuous hospital operations. The Materials Management Specialist Lead receives and logs freight against purchase orders and packing slips; inspects codes, quantities, units of measure, and damaged goods; processes returns and shipments; stocks and rotates inventory using FIFO with accurate labels and charge numbers; fills requisitions; restocks Kanban and Omnicell units; sanitizes and builds kits; monitors par levels, stock-outs, and expiration dates; creates and completes purchase orders; verifies and posts requisitions; requisitions out issued items; maintains system records; follows up on backorders; researches products and pricing; completes required reports; assists with weekly and annual inventories and discrepancy reconciliation; and lifts up to 50 pounds while supporting clinical departments and the Materials Manager.
Essential Job Functions
- Demonstrates knowledge and accuracy in logging receipts of merchandise received when receiving freight using purchase orders, received goods tickets and packing slips.
- Accurately checks vendor codes and stock codes; amounts and units of measure; and damaged goods.
- Proficiency in handling returns by working with shipping companies and vendors, resolving discrepancies and damaged goods.
- Properly wraps, labels, weighs, enters adequate insurance when needed, in a secure and accurate manner when shipping packages.
- Correctly and neatly places stock in its location, labeling inventory with correct stock and charge numbers.
- Correctly and consistently rotates stock using First in/First out system.
- Correctly sanitizes and assembles all kits used in various areas of the hospital, maintaining adequate supply levels.
- Maintains an orderly assembly area.
- Accurately checks off stock items, numbers, and units of measure on written requisitions as assembling department requisitions.
- Accurately checks KanBan stock areas for low inventory, fills out KanBan order sheet, assembles stock, delivers, rotates existing inventory and fills KanBan stock areas.
- Accurately maintains and fills all Omnicell units throughout the hospital
- Notes stock outs and quantities left on requisition for inventory check.
- Cleans and reorganizes storeroom areas as time permits.
Other Job Functions
- Participate in quality improvement activities and assigned committees, including monthly standardization meetings.
- Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, including boxes, totes, kits, and freight.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
Education
High school graduate or equivalent.
Experience
Required
- One-year experience using automated materials management and / or automated warehousing and inventory control systems.
Preferred
- Two to four years’ experience using automated materials management and /or automated warehousing and inventory control systems in a healthcare support setting.
