Job summary

The U.S. Forest Service seeks a Warehouse Specialist at the National Interagency Support Cache (NISC) in Minnesota. This role focuses on receiving, storing, repairing, refurbishing, and shipping supplies and equipment, with emphasis on safety and accuracy in material handling.

You will lead and mentor staff, ensure proper labeling, operate bar code wands and scanners, and coordinate stock levels. Strong attention to detail and regulatory compliance are essential.

Qualifications

  • U.S. citizen or national
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain required licenses (e.g., CDL within 12 months)
  • Ability to pass background check and drug testing
  • Experience with warehouse and material handling operations
  • Knowledge of safety and regulatory compliance

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor three or more staff, including temporary workers
  • Train and certify employees in safe operation of mechanized equipment
  • Mark, label, and tag items and ensure proper containment
  • Use bar code scanners and automated systems for inventory
  • Assemble kits and prepare items for storage and shipment
