Job summary

HEICO Corporation in New York state seeks a Materials Lab Tech to support engineering and quality by preparing and evaluating materials, including metals, ceramics, polymers and composites, to ensure conformance to design and processes.

The role involves sectioning, mounting, polishing, etching, and testing with optical microscopes, spectrometry, and SEM, plus weld inspection and coating evaluation, under supervision, with a High School diploma and 0–2 years’ experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 0-2 years of related work experience.
• Good written and verbal communication; ability to read and interpret documents.

Responsibilities

• Perform research activities in lab environment and record observations.
• Accurately record measurements and report results.
• Section, mount, polish, and etch samples as per guidelines.
• Evaluate samples for grain size, microstructure, hardness, spectroscopy, and surface treatments.
• Operate optical microscopes, OES spectrometer, and SEM for materials characterization.
• Inspect welds/brazes for conformance to requirements.
• Prepare and evaluate thermal spray coatings for process validation.
• Assist engineers in reverse engineering aircraft parts as needed.
• Maintain clean work area and equipment; perform other duties as assigned.
