Consolidated Precision Products (CPP), an aerospace and defense manufacturing company, has an immediate need for a Materials Lab Manager to join our team!

Summary

Perform timely, accurate, and complete material testing and reporting to internal and external customers. Provide technical leadership in metallurgical pursuits at CPP-Syracuse. Supervise Lab employees daily and develop their skills. Maintain NADCAP accreditation for the Materials Lab and welding process at CPP-Syracuse.

Essential Job Functions

• Ensure all lab technicians follow specifications and procedures, maintaining practices that meet or exceed customer requirements.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives, focusing on reducing process variation through data analysis, root cause identification, and corrective actions.
• Research new lab techniques and processes to reduce costs and improve practices.
• Collaborate with Engineering to establish processes that meet metallurgical requirements and enhance productivity.
• Coordinate with Manufacturing regarding defect analysis, root cause, and corrective actions.
• Support metallurgical control in welding, heat treating, HIPing, coating, and other processes.
• Assist in part quotations and review drawings and specifications as needed.
• Communicate metallurgical issues with customers and suppliers, providing technical support and fostering good relations.

Qualifications

• BS in Metallurgy/Materials Engineering preferred; other engineering degrees considered based on experience.
• Experience in investment casting, heat treating, metallography, SEM, defect analysis, NADCAP accreditation, or weld process management is desirable.
• Skills in statistical analysis, problem-solving, and technical interpretation.
• Proficiency in database, internet, manufacturing, project management, spreadsheet, and word processing software.

PAY RANGE: $85,000-$110,000.
