Job summary

DLA Disposition Services is seeking a Materials Examiner and Identifier (FLO) for Norfolk, VA. The role involves inspecting and classifying a wide range of materials, verifying demilitarization codes, and ensuring proper documentation and handling procedures.

Responsibilities include assisting with inventories, re-palletizing as needed, and operating forklifts in a warehouse environment. Candidates must meet SOE requirements and be able to obtain required licenses and certifications.

Qualifications

• SOE: Ability to do the work of a Materials Examiner and Identifier (FLO) without more than normal supervision, i.e., perform common tasks under close supervision such as moves, stores and picks materials, loads and handles material and identifies items.

Responsibilities

• Receives, examines and determines the condition and disposition of a wide variety of materials.
• Reviews disposal turn-in documents and ensures correct information and proper documentation (stock number, nomenclature, quantity, unit of issue, disposal authority code, DEMIL, condition code).
• Visually inspects usable property for condition and acceptability.
• Determines condition, reportability and handling requirements; assigns classification instructions for warehousing.
• Verifies accuracy of demilitarization codes and maintains segregated storage of DEMIL items.
• Ensures proper certification attached to turn-in documents when demilitarized.
• Performs special and periodic inventory and re-palletizes/re-locates property as needed.
• Operates forklifts and related equipment to move, load/unload, and stack palletized materials.
