Job summary

Hyster-Yale Materials Handling, Inc. in Avon, IN is seeking a Materials Handling Associate for the first shift (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM EST). You will contribute to timely order fulfillment, maintain quality and safety standards, and support flexible warehouse operations.

Responsibilities include receiving and organizing inventory, operating forklifts, loading outbound shipments, and ensuring accuracy in part numbers and quantities while collaborating with team members to meet daily production goals.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Strong teamwork, communication (written and verbal), and critical thinking skills.
  • Safety-focused, detail-oriented, and results-driven with the ability to work independently.
  • Experience with Sit Down, Stand Up, Reach, Order Selector equipment—or willingness to learn.
  • Familiarity with warehouse policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to manage high-volume inventory and meet deadlines without compromising quality.
  • Comfortable using technology (RF devices, handheld and flatscreen computers, etc.).

  • Safely operate forklifts and other equipment; maintain a Forklift Operator license; manage batteries and propane tanks.
  • Receive incoming products, manage inventory in systems, and store items in stock locations.
  • Identify, pick, verify, package, label, and load outbound products with accuracy.
  • Meet productivity targets while maintaining quality and collaboration.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

As a Materials Handling Associate, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring our customers receive the quality and service they expect. Shift: First Shift – 7AM - 3:30PM EST

What You’ll Do
  • Customer Care: Deliver results and provide an optimal customer experience.
  • Maintain Quality & Safety: Identify non-conformities, keep the warehouse clean and organized, adhere to 5S principles, and follow all safety procedures.
  • Support Team Objectives: Maintain flexibility to support shifting production needs, including helping in different areas of the warehouse when required to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.
  • Operate Equipment: Safely operate forklifts and other machinery; maintain a valid Forklift Operator’s license; change batteries and propane tanks as needed.
  • Handle Inventory: Receive incoming products, manage inventory in control systems, and store items neatly in stock and surplus locations.
  • Fulfill Orders: Identify, pick, verify, sort, package, label, and load outbound products; assemble kits and ensure accuracy in part numbers and quantities.
  • Meet Performance Expectations: Achieve productivity requirements while maintaining accuracy and quality by demonstrating problem solving, critical thinking, and collaboration.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
What We’re Looking For

Physical Demands Lift up to 50 lbs and perform repetitive movements for extended periods. Reliable vision (with corrective lenses if needed). Comfortable working at heights up to 30 feet and rotating through multiple work areas.

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
