Job summary

Aafes is seeking a Material Handler to perform warehousing duties at a distribution center. You will receive, store, pick, and ship merchandise, and may operate forklifts or conveyors as part of daily workflows.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, plus at least six months of related experience and the ability to obtain or maintain a Material Handling Equipment license. Regular daytime hours are expected with possible overtime.

Job description

"APPLICANTS/ASSOCIATES TENTATIVELY SELECTED FOR A TDP WILL BE REQUIRED TO SUBMIT TO URINALYSIS TO SCREEN FOR ILLEGAL DRUG USE PRIOR TO APPOINTMENT/SELECTION."

Under general supervision at a warehouse management system (WMS) distribution center, performs a variety of skilled warehousing duties in either receiving, storage, order selection or shipping. Will use a VDT/PC to perform select computer applications or determine data available from inquiry screens. May use a forklift, pallet jack or other materials handling equipment (MHE) to include conveyors. Assists in the training and development of associates.

Job Qualifications

Education: Completion of high school or the equivalent. Creditable job-related experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a 9-months for 9-months basis. Experience: Six months progressively responsible general experience plus a minimum of six months specialized experience in receiving, storing or shipping merchandise and processing documents in a mechanized distribution center. Operation of MHE or motor vehicles is subject to prescribed licensing requirements. If a sufficient number of qualified candidates do not apply, the minimum qualifications may be lowered without reposting.

Additional Qualifications/Requirements

MONDAY-FRIDAY 0700-1600. SOME OT MAY VARY DEPENDING ON FACILITY NEEDS.

Must be able to complete and maintain Material Handler Equipment license as the requirement for this position. Work will include item picking. Items will be placed on conveyors or handled manually on pallets for movements case labels.
