Job summary

Northwell Health is seeking a Material Handler to receive, verify and expedite supplies to departments. You will ensure accurate replenishment, charge costs correctly and maintain orderly inventory.

The role requires attention to detail and ability to operate a forklift or motor vehicle as needed. Responsibilities include processing packing slips, updating logs, assisting walk-ins and phone requests, and ensuring stock levels are monitored to prevent shortages in a fast-paced hospital

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid State Driver’s License.
• Minimum 1 year of material handler experience (preferred).
• Ability to read, write and speak English, and perform simple math.

Responsibilities

• Receives deliveries for the facility and verifies address.
• Identifies purchase order and packing slip, and verifies in Lawson.
• Delivers orders to departments and obtains signatures; rotates stock.
• Parses and stacks inventory, charges costs to the correct cost center.
• Picks and prepares supplies for various locations; keeps carts clean and orderly.
• Receives packing slips in Lawson and monitors inventory levels to prevent stockouts.
• Operates motor vehicle to pick up or deliver supplies and equipment.

Receives, validates and expedites distribution of all received goods to appropriate departments. Provide accurate replenishment of supplies and accurate charging of supplies issued; timely delivery and appropriate storage of requisitioned supplies and equipment.

Job Responsibility

1. 1. Receives all deliveries for facility and verify address.
2. 2. Identifies purchase order # and packing slip.
3. 3. Verifies purchase order in Lawson to identify delivery area.
4. 4. Attaches copy of packing slip to order.
5. 5. Delivers order to department and obtain a signature on log sheet. 6. Puts away all inventory items rotating inventory.
6. 7. Breaks up and remove all boxes.
7. 8. Accurately par and pick supplies for various locations.
8. 9. Puts away all supplies in appropriate bins.
9. 10. Maintains supply carts in a clean and orderly fashion.
10. 11. Accurately complete par sheets.
11. 12. Assists all walk in and telephone requests.
12. 13. Accurately charge appropriate cost center for supplies issued. 14. Issues supplies using correct unit of measure.
13. 15. Weighs, wraps and prepares goods for return in accordance with shipping carrier.
14. 16. Receives all packing slips in Lawson.
15. 17. Monitors levels of inventory and immediately reports any potential stock outs.
16. 18. Operates motor vehicle to pick-up/deliver supplies, material and/or equipment from/to hospital facilities.
17. 19. Performs related duties as required.

*ADA Essential Functions PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Constant standing, walking. Frequent stooping, bending, stretching, lifting heavy objects, pulling, pushing, turning. Occasional sitting.
