Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Health System is seeking a Materials Handler at the Main Campus in Cleveland. You will support replenishment of supplies, linen, and materials and use the warehouse management system to ensure timely placement of items.

The role focuses on stocking, delivering to multiple floors, and collaborating with site managers to meet patient care needs. Weekend/shift schedule is 5:00am-3:30pm on days Wed-Sat.

Qualifications

  • Driver's license may be required to operate box trucks.
  • Knowledge of inventory processes and stock management.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and system usage.

Responsibilities

  • Replenish supplies, linen, and materials for hospital departments.
  • Receive, inspect, unload, and store shipments accurately in the warehouse.
  • Input shipment data into the warehouse management system.
  • Stock and deliver supplies to floors and clinical areas as needed.
  • Rotate stock, check for outdates, and manage expiry items to meet KPIs.
  • Assist with communications between sites to anticipate stocking needs.

Material Handlers are responsible for the replenishment of supplies, linen, and materials and use inventory management system tools to ensure the product is in place promptly. A caregiver in this position works days Wednesday - Saturday from 5:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Provide support to the hospital supervisor on project work.
  • Collaborate with management to improve daily activities.
  • Support areas that care for patients with higher level of acuity and volume.
  • Receive products from shipping and receiving area, unpack and inspect items for damage, verify accuracy of shipment and input information in the warehouse management system.
  • Receive, sort, put away, pick and deliver supplies, mail, patient records and other items as required.
  • Rotate stock and check for outdates.
  • Handle returns by completing technical documentation and other required communication.
  • Support Site Managers with communications with customers to fulfill areas' stocking needs and anticipate future needs.
  • Deliver supplies and materials to appropriate floors and health care facilities.
  • Monitor the flow of traffic into dock areas, prioritizing deliveries ensuring the safe receipt of goods and supplies.
  • Put away freight, supplies, packages, and perishable items from dock facilities using materials handling equipment.
  • Verify accuracy of shipments, check for damage to goods and document variances of orders.
  • Prepare goods and supplies for distribution, prioritizing deliveries, sorting and labeling loads ensuring the safe, correct and timely delivery of orders.
  • Stock picking locations using warehouse management system, either manually or utilizing materials handling equipment according to identifying information (size, style, and numbers) ensuring the safe movement of materials.
  • Perform physical count of stock for inventory control verification.
  • Survey, fill and stock nursing floors and clinical areas to maintain inventory levels.
  • Unload and unpack cases and stocks designated storage areas with supplies.
  • Perform routine expiry management duties to meet KPIs.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
  • Meets all Cleveland Clinic insurance requirements.
  • May require appropriate Valid Driver's License (VDL) to drive box trucks.
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One year of materials management or related experience.
  • Inventory knowledge.
  • Basic computer skills.
Physical Requirements:
  • Manual dexterity to operate office equipment.
  • Requires frequent sitting, standing and walking to various locations to attend meetings.
  • Must have normal or corrected vision and be able to clearly communicate verbally by phone or in person.
  • Must have own transportation due to travel to multiple sites.
