Job summary

Johnson & Johnson is seeking a Materials Engineering CO-OP in Jacksonville, FL to support data-driven material testing, protocol coordination, and continuous improvement efforts. You will coordinate testing activities, work with internal teams and external partners, and contribute to environmental and cost-improvement projects.

This internship provides exposure to global partners and real-world engineering challenges. Target Start Date: January 11, 2027; Target End Date: June 11, 2027.

Qualifications

  • Education: BS in Engineering or Science related field with 0–3 years experience. Graduate students encouraged.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills required, on-site availability if needed.
  • Familiarity with statistical DOE methods and analysis tools preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support CO-OP reviews progress, analyze data, and present results across projects.
  • Coordinate material testing and protocol requirements to achieve project goals.
  • Assist with engineering assignments on business continuity and cost improvement.
  • Advocate for continuous improvement of technology and processes.
  • Adhere to environmental policy and support department environmental objectives.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners and suppliers domestically and internationally.

We are looking for the best talent in Materials Engineering.

  • The CO-OP reviews the progress and evaluates the data and presents the results of multiple projects across various functional groups.
  • The CO-OP coordinates raw material and contact lens testing and protocol requirements as necessary to achieve project completion.
  • The CO-OP facilitates and conducts engineering assignments involving business continuity and cost improvement projects.
  • The CO-OP acts as an advocate for the continuous improvement of technology and processes.
  • The CO-OP adheres to environmental policy and procedures and supports department environmental objectives.
  • The position gives students multiple opportunities to work with both internal multi-functional teams as well as interact with the external partners and raw material suppliers both domestically and internationally.

Target End Date: June 11, 2027

Qualifications:
  • Education: Current student of Chemical Engineering/Material Science and Engineering /Bioengineering /Polymer Science and Engineering or equivalent required experience. 0 to 3 years with a BS in Engineering or Science related field. Graduate school students are encouraged to apply.
  • Availability to work on site if the position requires it.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
  • Excellent organizational skills required.
  • Statistical design and analysis of experiments (Minitab or any statistical analysis tool).
Candidate Eligibility Requirements
  • Be authorized to work in the US without current or future sponsorship requirements.
  • Remain actively enrolled in their academic program throughout the entire internship period.
  • Be available to work 40 hours per week during the internship.
  • Should have a minimum GPA of 3
  • Permanently authorized to work in the U.S., must not require sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g., H-1B or green card) at the time of application or in the future. Students currently on CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT usually requires future sponsorship for long term employment and do not meet the requirements for this program unless eligible for an alternative long-term status that does not require company sponsorship.
