Job summary

Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) seeks a Materials Engineer to join the Strategic Materials Team within the Material Development Department.

You will support development of flexible material technologies for North and South American vehicle programs through collaboration with design, studio, manufacturing and purchasing teams. The role focuses on validating polymeric materials, managing projects from concept to production, and performing root-cause analyses to improve quality

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field as listed.
• Professional experience in polymeric materials, with emphasis on flexible materials.
• Ability to explain technical topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Validate new soft trim material technologies and production polymeric materials for future vehicle launches.
• Identify high-potential materials technology projects and oversee them from concept to production.
• Perform root cause analysis on field quality issues and implement engineering improvements.
• Conduct periodic audit testing of material performance and benchmarking.
• Direct lab technicians in material testing and report findings to management.
• Improve the quality of Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis production parts.
• Travel up to 20% domestically and internationally.
