Job summary

Lockheed Martin Space in Sunnyvale, California is seeking a full-time Materials Lab Associate Engineer for the Specialty Labs. You will develop test plans, perform laboratory testing, evaluate data, and report test results.

The successful candidate will have experience and/or knowledge of materials, test methods, and a wide range of equipment, from handheld fixtures to highly specialized test instruments. Must be a US Citizen.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Materials Science and Engineering or related field.
• Experience or coursework in a laboratory environment.
• Coursework/knowledge of EEE devices, metallic alloys and/or metallurgical concepts.
• Experience in the review of laboratory test results, evaluation of data and completion of related documentation and the final lab report.
• Good writing, communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

As a Materials Lab Engineer Associate you’ll work on a broad range of projects in a laboratory environment that will challenge you to learn and grow in your career. Working side by side with designers, test and manufacturing engineers, you’ll use your education, experience and growing expertise to develop and evaluate new and innovative technology to survive in the most hostile of environments.

In This Role You Will

• Coordinate with other disciplines such as Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Engineering, and Procurement
• Interface with customers in the development of test plans, performance of laboratory testing and evaluation of data
• Prepare samples and measure physical, performance, and processing properties of representative materials and parts using standard and specialized equipment and instrumentation
• Perform laboratory analyses on test samples/parts using a wide range of equipment from handheld fixtures to highly specialized test instruments.
• Prepare laboratory reports

We're Looking For

Evaluates technical and economic factors, recommending engineering and manufacturing actions for attainment of design objectives of process or product by applying knowledge of material science and related technologies. Reviews plans for new products and factors, such as strength, weight, and cost to submit material selection recommendations ensuring attainment of design objectives. Plans and implements laboratory operations to develop material and fabrication procedures for new materials to fulfill product cost and performance standards. Confers with producers of materials, such as metals, ceramics, and polymers, during investigation and evaluation of materials suitable for specific product applications.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree Materials Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field of study
• Experience or coursework in a laboratory environment
• Coursework/knowledge of EEE devices, metallic alloys and/or metallurgical concepts
• Experience in the review of laboratory test results, evaluation of data and completion of related documentation and the final lab report
• Good writing, communication and interpersonal skills

Desired Skills

• Familiarity with ASTM, AMS, or MIL specifications related to metals and electrical testing of materials
• Familiarity with standards related to testing of Electrical, Electronic, and Electromechanical Parts

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $72800.00 - $135200.00

Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
