Keystone Powdered Metal Company in St. Marys, PA is seeking a full-time Materials Engineer to join the engineering team and support manufacturing across facilities. You will troubleshoot material issues, lead testing programs, and work closely with the VP of Engineering.

Qualifications include a BS in Engineering or Materials Science and at least 5 years in the powdered metal industry. Strong communication and computer skills are required, with proficiency in MS Office and data reporting.

Keystone Powdered Metal Company, a Sumitomo Electric Group company, is looking for a full-time Materials Engineer who will be working in our St. Marys, PA location. This person will report to the VP of Engineering.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Work with all manufacturing facilities to troubleshoot /solve issues specifically relating to
• material concerns. Examples are part contamination issues, heat treat oil contamination and so forth.
• Become the technical lead on Keystone’s Perk and Elmer Spectrometer.
• Become the technical lead on specialized test equipment, such as:

Part specific Impact Testing.

Part specific Tensile Testing.

Part specific MTS Testing for Fatigue.

• Entering test results in MS Access or Excel and producing organized reports/charts.
• Report results to supervision and offer tentative conclusions.
• Develop an understanding of Keystone’s mixes, such as:

Flow and Arnold Density of mixes.

Pressure Density Curves of mixes.

Density, Hardness, Break Strength, Carbon content and
Microstructure of sample parts.

• Develop an understanding of all Keystone’s heat treat processes and equipment

to aid in troubleshooting. Such as:

Processing: Dimensional change, hardness, case depth and case depth development, etc.

Equipment: Endogas generators, furnaces, coils, power supplies, etc.

Qualifications

• Bachelors of Science in Engineering, Material Science, Metallurgy, or equivalent technical experience (minimum of 5 years) within the Powdered Metal Industry with emphasis on materials and processing.
• Communication skills a must.
• Basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
