Job summary

Adecco Permanent Recruitment is seeking a detail-oriented Materials Coordinator for a fast-paced manufacturing environment in Grand Rapids, MI. The role focuses on maintaining inventory accuracy, supporting production schedules, and ensuring materials move efficiently across the operation.

You will manage shipping, receiving, inventory control, material movement, and warehouse organization, collaborating with internal teams and external customers to ensure on-time delivery and high service

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-3 years experience in inventory control, warehouse ops, shipping/receiving, or related field.
  • Experience with ERP systems and inventory management software.
  • Proficiency with Excel and Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, and unload shipments using forklifts and other equipment.
  • Verify shipments against PO, packing slips, and docs for accuracy.
  • Investigate discrepancies related to quantity, quality, or damaged materials.
  • Record inventory movements in ERP and maintain accurate records.
  • Perform regular cycle counts and audits for accuracy.
  • Organize warehouse locations using FIFO inventory practices.
  • Pick, pack, and prepare orders for shipment with proper packaging.
  • Generate packing lists, shipping labels, and documents.
  • Coordinate inbound/outbound shipments with carriers and teams.
  • Restock unused materials to inventory.
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate replenishment needs.
  • Support safe, clean, and organized work environment.

We are looking for a detail-oriented Materials Coordinator who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and takes pride in maintaining inventory accuracy, supporting production schedules, and ensuring materials move efficiently throughout the operation.

In this role, you will be a key contributor to operational success by managing shipping, receiving, inventory control, material movement, and warehouse organization. The ideal candidate is highly organized, analytical, customer-focused, and committed to providing excellent service to both internal teams and external customers.

What You’ll Do:
  • Receive, inspect, and unload incoming shipments using equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, cranes, and other material handling equipment.
  • Verify incoming and outgoing shipments against purchase orders, packing slips, and shipping documentation to ensure accuracy.
  • Investigate and communicate discrepancies related to quantity, quality, specifications, or damaged materials.
  • Execute inventory transactions within the ERP system and maintain accurate records of all material movements.
  • Perform regular cycle counts and inventory audits to support inventory accuracy and operational efficiency.
  • Organize and maintain warehouse and stockroom locations using FIFO (First In, First Out) inventory practices.
  • Pick, pack, and prepare orders for shipment while ensuring products are packaged securely and appropriately for transportation methods such as ground, air, or ocean freight.
  • Generate packing lists, shipping documents, labels, and other required documentation.
  • Tag, identify, and stage materials, parts, and finished goods according to project and customer requirements.
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments with carriers, vendors, customers, and internal departments to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Restock and return unused materials from production or project activities to inventory.
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate replenishment needs to purchasing and supply chain teams.
  • Maintain accurate inventory locations and support continuous improvement initiatives within warehouse operations.
  • Assist with physical inventory counts and special projects as required.
  • Support a safe, clean, and organized work environment while following established quality and safety procedures.
What You’ll Need
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-3 years of experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, shipping and receiving, logistics, materials management, or a related field.
  • Experience working within ERP systems and inventory management software.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to safely operate, or obtain certification to operate, forklifts, cranes, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to obtain any required driving certifications or endorsements.
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to quickly learn new systems and technology.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining inventory accuracy.
  • Ability to analyze information, solve problems, and make sound decisions.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Ability to lift, move, and transport materials safely in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
