Job summary

SPX Technologies in Springfield, MO is seeking a Material Handler for our offsite yard supporting the plant. You will receive materials from suppliers, verify receipts in SAP, store them, and perform weekly counts in an outdoor yard.

You’ll help maintain inventory accuracy, assist outbound shuttle loads, and support production scheduling. The role requires attention to detail, ability to follow instructions, and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.

How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)

This position is responsible for the day-to-day material handling and inventory accuracy of an offsite storage yard supporting the Springfield, MO facility. Primary responsibilities include receiving material from suppliers, verifying and posting receipts in SAP, storing material in its designated yard location, performing weekly cycle counts, maintaining segregation of company-owned and customer-owned inventory, and providing limited outbound support for shuttle loads returning to the plant. The position works outdoors in an open-yard environment as part of a larger yard team and may assume additional duties as assigned. The successful incumbent will be detail oriented, accurate in system transactions, able to follow instructions well, and work well in a team atmosphere.

Ideal Experience & Skills


  • Ability to accurately perform SAP transactions related to receiving, goods movement, and inventory adjustment

  • Ability to read and interpret packing slips, purchase orders, bills of lading, and part markings

  • Ability to read effectively from a computer screen, handheld/RF device, and/or paper copy

  • Ability to correctly and safely use hand tools (both manual and pneumatic)

  • Ability to read a tape measure in metric and imperial standards

  • Ability to work within precise limits and/or standards of accuracy

  • Ability to handle a large volume of work, multi-task, and prioritize inbound and outbound demands

  • Ability to work independently with limited on-site supervision

  • Ability to work well with others and communicate effectively across two plant locations

  • Ability to follow and understand directions

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Understanding of consigned and customer-owned inventory handling, including segregation and identification requirements

  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Outlook


Education & Certifications


  • High school diploma or GED required

  • 5-7 years of relative experience or a college degree in a related field

  • Onsite – manufacturing plant environment, with potential exposure to all types of weather, including excessive heat, excessive cold, and excessive noise

  • Lifting up to 50 pounds; 50+ pounds with assistance

  • Sitting, standing, walking, bending, grasping, pushing, pulling, crawling, climbing, twisting, reaching, working at heights, and using a ladder as required

  • Ability to use both hands overhead

  • Perform repetitive motions

  • Outdoor yard environment with continuous exposure to all types of weather, including excessive heat, excessive cold, precipitation, wind, uneven walking surfaces, and excessive noise
