Job summary

IDEX Corporation is seeking an Engineering Technician for the Materials Laboratory. You will perform precise measurements, maintain characterization equipment, and document results to support high-quality outcomes across our MSS group and Micro-LAM unit.

The role requires following established procedures, meticulous record-keeping, and the ability to work with engineers to drive accurate data and continuous improvements in laboratory processes.

Qualifications

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate data collection.
• Ability to follow detailed written procedures and work instructions.
• Good organizational and record-keeping skills.
• Ability to work independently while communicating effectively with engineers and other team members.
• Experience with materials characterization, laboratory testing, microscopy, dimensional measurement, or similar technical work is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform materials measurements and characterization using established procedures and work instructions.
• Follow testing procedures carefully and consistently to ensure reliable and repeatable results.
• Prepare samples for characterization and testing as required.
• Record test results, observations, and relevant sample information accurately and clearly.
• Maintain organized and traceable records of measurements and test data.
• Perform routine equipment maintenance, calibration checks, and basic troubleshooting.
• Keep characterization equipment, work areas, and samples clean and organized.
• Identify and communicate equipment issues, unusual results, or deviations from established procedures.
• Follow all applicable safety, quality, and laboratory procedures.
• Demonstrate strong attention to detail when handling samples, operating equipment, and documenting results.
• Support continuous improvement of testing procedures and laboratory processes.
