Job summary

Applied Materials, Inc. is seeking a Buyer to procure materials, services, and equipment for our Austin manufacturing facilities.

You’ll coordinate with engineering and manufacturing teams to monitor inventory, approve deliveries, and drive cost-effective purchasing while ensuring quality and reliability. The role emphasizes supplier negotiations, timely procurement, and collaboration across functions to keep production on schedule; a bachelor’s degree and up to one year of related experience

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Up to 1 year of related experience preferred.
• Basic understanding of material cost management, shortage management, supplier capability, purchase order management and other materials/equipment buying processes.

Responsibilities

• Ensure supply continuity to enable manufacturing with speed and quality. Follow-up on orders, verify delivery, approve payment, and maintain necessary records. Adhere to standard purchasing business processes.
• Proactively drive and ensure timely delivery/shipment of parts from supplier to Applied factories, including resolution of shipment/receiving and billing issues with supplier.
• Partner with suppliers on demand/supply collaboration. Execute and manage pull-ins/push-outs with suppliers to meet MRP demand.
• Drive inventory and E&Z reduction efforts.
• Negotiate and execute purchase and RFQ to drive the lowest cost consistent with consideration of quality, reliability of source and urgency of need, with support from more experienced buyer.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders (engineering, manufacturing, Program Managers) to resolve supply issue.
