Job summary

TerraPower is seeking a Materials and/or Environmental Licensing Engineer to join the Regulatory Affairs and Licensing team in Bellevue, WA. You will help develop licensing strategies and submittals, coordinate interactions with the NRC, and support environmental licensing activities for advanced reactor programs.

The ideal candidate has 10–15 years of experience in nuclear licensing, strong QA, and proven ability to work within a matrix organization and manage deadlines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with strong experience in nuclear field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Capability and willingness to adhere to strict quality assurance standards.
  • 10–15 years of direct materials and/or environmental licensing experience.
  • 10–15 years of direct experience with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
  • 10–15 years of direct experience in project management.
  • Excellent communicator, team oriented, able to direct remote team members.
  • Experience with plant design teams is desirable.
  • Experience with advanced reactors desirable but not mandatory.
  • Self-starter with ability to manage deadlines.
  • Proficient in MS Office and Adobe Professional.

Materials and/or Environmental Licensing Engineer

TerraPower is seeking a highly motivated Materials and/or Environmental Licensing Engineer to be a part of the Regulatory Affairs and Licensing team. This position reports to the Sr. VP, Regulatory Affairs, and is responsible for assisting with activities for materials or environmental licensing submittals. The position will assist in the development of the Environmental Report for the license application, implement the materials or the environmental licensing strategy, develop regulatory submittals, and assist in managing interactions with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, other regulatory authorities, and industry group s.

Responsibilities
  • Develops and implements the Materials or the Environmental Licensing Project Plans
  • Develops, executes and maintains the schedule for preparing and obtaining regulatory approval of licensing submittals.
  • Plans, coordinates, organizes, and executes on-going materials or environmental licensing activities.
  • Develops, reviews and submits environmental permit applications, ensuring alignment with applicable NRC, NEPA, and EPA regulatory requirements.
  • Prepares for meetings as well as prepares for submittals and interactions with the regulatory authorities.
  • Works closely with partner organizations to provide the required support on the materials or environmental licensing activities.
  • Manages interactions and communications with the regulatory authorities.
  • Develops the materials or environmental licensing submittals including implementation of the licensing strategy
  • Works closely with the design authority or design engineering groups to ensure adequate and timely engineering products to support materials or environmental licensing activities.
  • Actively participates in industry groups and forums, implementing lessons learned and industry best practices at TerraPower.
Key Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree with a strong experience base in the nuclear field; advanced degree is preferred.

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel) and Adobe Professional
  • The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly and display respect and a desire to foster teamwork
  • Actual position starting level and title will be determined based on assessment of qualifications

Job details

Salary Range: $148,722 - $193,146

*Any salary offered within the posted salary band is based on market data and commensurate with the selected individual’s qualifications experience. This range is specific to Washington State.
