Job summary

TerraPower is seeking a Nuclear Licensing Engineer to work in Bellevue, WA or Rockville, MD, or in a hybrid environment. You will draft and review licensing documents and interface with project stakeholders and teams to ensure compliance with nuclear regulations.

Nuclear Licensing Engineer

Location: Bellevue, WA; Rockville, MD or Hybrid USA

Responsibilities

• Draft, author, and review licensing documents for 10 CFR Part 30, 40, and 70 (e.g., Safety Analysis Report and Environmental Report)
• Coordinate with project stakeholders to prepare responses to NRC audit questions and requests for additional information
• Interface with the Licensing Team to complete licensing tasks
• Coordinate with design personnel to ensure designs and design changes meet regulatory requirements
• Prepare, review, and maintain licensing documentation in compliance with regulations and strict quality assurance standards
• Interface with technical discipline teams at TerraPower, partners, and contractors
• Review correspondence to and from regulatory agencies
• Develop licensing strategies to support project goals

Key Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited, four-year university or equivalent experience
• Capability and willingness to adhere to strict quality assurance standards
• Demonstrated, applicable experience in nuclear licensing, or comparable field
• 10 years plus experience with 10 CFR regulations and guidance
• 10 years plus experience with NRC licensing actions involving 10 CFR 30, 40, and 70 applications
• Self-starter with ability to manage deadlines
• Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel) and Adobe Professional
• Strong communication skills
• High degree of trust and integrity, with respect and a desire to foster teamwork
• Actual position starting level and title will be determined based on assessment of qualifications

Salary

Salary Range 9: $99,041 - $148,561

Salary Range 10: $113,605 - $170,408

Typically, our employee salaries are within .90 – 1.0 of the mid-point of the posted salary bands. This range is specific to Washington State.
