Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a laboratory technician to perform chemical and physical tests on materials for quality control and product development. The role involves operating ICP-OES, balances, spectrophotometers, and other lab instruments, preparing samples, and recording results with accuracy.

You will communicate results clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences and collaborate with production and QC teams to ensure timely, safe work practices and compliance with company policies.

Qualifications

  • Requires Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school.
  • Ability to calculate figures such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Proficient in Windows, Microsoft Excel, and Outlook; able to learn instrument-specific software and databases.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; able to interpret instructions and data.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts chemical and physical tests on materials for quality attributes such as composition, purity, color, and density.
  • Sets up, adjusts, and operates laboratory equipment including ICP-OES, spectrophotometer, and balance scales.
  • Collects samples and prepares composites for analysis; tests manufactured products for conformity to specs.
  • Records test results accurately and communicates findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
