Job summary

Red Rabbit seeks a Food Service Worker/Packer to join a 3-6 person team serving and delivering healthy made-from-scratch meals to hundreds of students daily in a school setting. The ideal candidate will have experience with children, reliability, and a can-do attitude, while upholding DOH standards.

The role emphasizes light food prep, serving meals, and ensuring meals meet state and school schedules in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 1+ years professional culinary experience in a fast-paced service environment (restaurants, high-volume kitchens, or schools).
• Demonstrated knowledge of proper food safety and sanitation practices.
• Serve Safe certificate is required.
• Food handlers license or certificate is a plus.
• Must be able to read and write in English; bilingual skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Portion food according to production and PA guidelines.
• Showcase and garnish meals according to Red Rabbit standards.
• Present and distribute meals to students with dignity and in a timely manner.
• Pack and distribute meals per PA state compliance portions and schedules.
• Count and track quantities to minimize waste and ensure accuracy.

The Food Service Worker/Packer, In-school is a dynamic role and integral part of a 3-6 person team helping to serve and deliver healthy made-from-scratch meals for hundreds of children in their school every day.

The ideal candidate has experience serving children, is reliable, and has a “can-do” attitude. The critical functions of the position include working in partnership with our schools, handing out meals to students, light food prep and helping to ensure the kitchen is always exceeding DOH standards.

Critical Functions

• Portion food according to Red Rabbit's production and PA guidelines.
• Showcase and garnish meals in accordance with Red Rabbit culinary standards
• Present and distribute meals with dignity to students according to compliance portions and school timing
• Pack and distribute meals per PA state compliance portions and school schedules
• Quickly and accurately count and track the amount of food distributed ensuring accuracy for compliance and reduce food waste
• Ensure the kitchen is exceeding DOH standards at all times by cleaning work stations and cooking equipment
• Represent Red Rabbit's values and culture when interacting with school staff and students by always being professional, helpful, and courteous
• Other duties as assigned

Skills & Requirements

• 1+ years professional culinary experience in a fast paced role in the service industry (i.e. restaurants), high volume kitchen production (i.e. commissary kitchen), or in a similar cafeteria role (i.e. schools/hospitals)
• Demonstrated knowledge of proper food safety and sanitation practices
• Serve Safe certificate
• Food handlers license or certificate is a plus
• Able to self motivate and to be organized
• Can function well within a team and work calmly and efficiently in a fast moving environment
• Have a great attitude who contributes to a positive working environment
• Share our passion for improving nutrition and health in schools
• Must be able to read and write in English. Bilingual (English and Spanish) a plus.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs on a regular basis

Additional Information

Job Type: Part Time

Typical Hours: Monday - Thursday apx- 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Friday: 09:00 AM to 01:00 PM

Location: Northeast Philadelphia, PA

Reports to: Head Chef

Compensation: $16.50 - $18.00/hour
