Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Material Systems Coordinator – Inventory & Flow to manage PFEP and VBIMS, design buffer strategies, and drive data-driven inventory targets. The role involves cross-functional collaboration, plant change support, and continuous improvement of material flow systems.

The candidate will work with 3rd parties to implement visual management, maintain ISO standards, and ensure accurate buffer management across the production network in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Download data using current cycle of events.
• Manage VM2000/VBIMS database.
• Set buffer calculations and grow PFEP.
• Set up new parts plans.
• Configure plant defaults via maintenance tables.
• Maintain a system to oversee overrides.
• Define buffer criteria and support PFEP.
• Analyze data to adjust banking strategies for inventory targets.
• Support plant launches and model changes.
• Support LMS, Kitting and sequencing projects.
• Implement and track protection of supply banks.
• Participate in PFEP, Engineering Change, and inventory teams.
• Create reports/queries for buffer management and PFEP.
• Act as SME for line-side material flow systems (PPS, EPS).
• Solve production PPS/EPS problems.
• Maintain Production Pull Schedules.
• Update line-side data for containerization and footprint changes.
• Collaborate with 3rd parties on visual management systems.
• Create visual management cards/signs as needed.
• Analyze Change System reports and issue new cards/signs.
• Investigate repetitive min/max violations with root-cause.
• Investigate significant inventory adjustments.

The Role:

As a Material Systems Coordinator – Inventory & Material Flow you will be responsible for our Plan for Every Part (PFEP) and Visual & Buffer Inventory Management System. (VBIMS) Here you’ll be responsible for the visual management system that calculates supply banks and min/max for every part, Production Pull System & Electronic Pull System data management as well as analyzing data and modifying banking strategies to achieve inventory targets. You’ll be creating reports and queries as required to enable buffer management and Plan for Every Part (PFEP) processes. This position is responsible for executing deliverables in support of the supply chain’s organization’s business objectives.

What You’ll Do:

• Download data as necessary using current cycle of events
• Responsible for the VM2000/VBIMS database
• Setting buffer calculations
• Setting up new parts plan
• Setting plant defaults using plant maintenance tables as needed
• Maintains a system to oversee overrides
• Determines criteria for all buffers and performs downloads as required to support the buffer management and plan for every part (PFEP) processes
• Analyze data and modify banking strategies to achieve inventory targets
• Supports all plant launch and model change activities
• Supports and implements plant LMS, Kitting and sequencing projects
• Implement and track protection of supply banks upon request
• Participation in Plan for Every Part ), Engineering Change System and inventory teams as required
• Creates reports and queries as required to enable buffer management and PFEP processes
• SME for line side material flow systems (PPS, EPS)
• Problem solving in Production Pull System & Electronic Pull System (PPS/EPS).
• Maintain Production Pull Schedules
• Updates line side material flow system data associated with containerization and job footprint changes
• Works with 3rd party to develop and maintain visual management systems, alternate min/max’s
• Creates new visual management cards and signs as needed
• Analyzes Engineering Change System report and supplies new visual management cards and signs as needed
• Analyze repetitive min/max violations, work with Ryder, floor team and 3rd party to root cause and resolve
• Perform investigations on significant inventory adjustments
• Maintains ISO standards
• Implements, monitors and maintains GMS elements

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree required
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications
• Analytical ability where problems are somewhat complex
• Knowledge of material department operations, manufacturing processes & departmental relationships
• Planning and organizational abilities
• Ability to understand and assess complex supply chain issues and lead teams in a cross functional environment to successfully resolve issues minimizing impacts to vehicle production.
• Ability to summarize critical issues with resolutions and communicate to leadership
• Ability to be flexible and at times work extended and non-core hours to ensure issues are worked to resolution
• Ability to problem tackle complete issues and implement new and innovative strategies
• Deep understanding of supply chain functions

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical IT related field
• Knowledge of Electronic Pull System/Production Pull System (EPS/PPS )
• Knowledge of MGO-A, VM2000/VBIMS
• Knowledge of Microsoft Access & Excel
