Job summary

Carlisle Companies is seeking a Material and Supply Chain Manager to lead materials management, purchasing, shipping/receiving, inventory control, and production planning. The role emphasizes cost, quality, and on‑time delivery with a standard Monday–Friday schedule and occasional overtime.

The candidate will manage teams, track supplier performance, and drive continuous improvement initiatives including lean manufacturing and Six Sigma. Some travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in Materials Management, Supply Chain Management, Inventory Control (7+ years).
  • APICS Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Organize, direct, and control materials management, production planning, purchasing, shipping/receiving, warehousing and inventory control.
  • Prepare and manage planning processes and master scheduling for production materials.
  • Manage team performance, set metrics, conduct reviews and hiring recommendations.
  • Monitor inventory levels, safety stocks, and cycle metrics; drive improvements.
  • Develop systems to support shipment of finished goods and ensure customer requirements are met.
  • Collaborate with Scheduler, Quality Control, and Operations Manager on scheduling and material flow.

Job Summary

The Material and Supply Chain Manager develops, leads, and implements strategies to improve the efficiency of the material management function while focusing on cost, quality and on‑time delivery. Provides overall leadership for all material teams including purchasing, shipping/receiving, inventory control and production planning/scheduling. Standard hours of operation Monday‑Friday, 40 hours a week with occasional overtime and weekend hours as needed. Minimal travel required only as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Organize, direct, and control the materials management, production planning, purchasing, shipping/receiving, warehousing and inventory control in support of the operation.
  • Prepare and manage planning processes and master scheduling regarding production materials used in the manufacturing of customer products, WIP material flow, procurement systems and shipping.
  • Manage team performance through metrics development, annual reviews, recommendations for hire and disciplinary actions.
  • Manage inventory levels, accuracy, safety stocks and cycle metrics.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop team using strong interpersonal skills.
  • Monitor and track supplier performance through Quality and OTD (On‑Time Delivery). Ensure effective corrective action plans are implemented when needed. Participate in quarterly business reviews with the corporate purchasing team.
  • Develop systems and tools as needed to support shipment of finished goods ensuring all customer requirements for method of shipment, packaging, labeling, etc. are achieved.
  • Drive improvements for material management, obsolete and excess inventory, and material shortages. Develop and track metrics as needed.
  • Work closely with Scheduler, Quality Control, and the Operations Manager to track metrics for production releases and other factors that affect scheduling and material flow.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Customer service oriented.
  • Prioritize workload in a multitasking environment, balancing short‑term tactical and longer‑term strategic activities.
  • Experienced proven leader who leads by example and motivates people to create a challenging, empowering, and collaborative working environment.
  • Maintain and provide current understanding of industry best practices and technology.
  • Demonstrated history of successful change management and implementation of operational excellence improvements such as lean manufacturing, demand flow, and Six Sigma.
  • Strong ability to communicate with all levels of the organization from the production floor to the executive office; strong interpersonal, leadership, and organizational skills.
Education and Experience
    Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in Materials Management, Supply Chain Management, Inventory Control.
    Preferred:
  • APICS Certification Preferred.
Working Conditions
  • A combination of office‑related administrative tasks and heavy floor duties.
  • Subject to various weather conditions due to material stored outdoors.
