Job Summary

Job Description

Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Fuel Yard plant equipment. Performs lower skilled duties involving mechanical and electrical maintenance. Responsible for operating and maintaining conveyors, dewatering belts, and various other plant systems.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

• Operate power plant fuel and ash handling equipment, including warehouse functions.
• Monitor equipment temperature, pressure, flow, and level gauges to assess condition.
• Perform electrical and mechanical duties as qualified to maintain equipment.
• Use tools such as forklifts, electrical test meters, hand tools, and power tools.
• Work in physically demanding outdoor environments in various weather conditions.
• Perform operational, electrical, mechanical duties, and other tasks as assigned, including some overtime.
• Complete training and function as a fire brigade member.
• Adhere to Safety Handbook protocols.
• Perform other duties as required.

Position details: This role is represented by IBEW 2337, with a pay rate of $30.27 per hour, and requires working 12-hour rotating shifts.

Education, Experience, & Skills Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Power plant skills and experience preferred.
• Basic math, reading, and writing skills required.
• Ability to use hand tools and other equipment.
• Experience operating mobile equipment like forklifts preferred.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Applicants (excluding current Fossil Generation employees) must pass the Plant Operator Selection System/POSS/MASS exams to be considered, which are administered as needed by HR.
