Material Specialist IV
The Material Specialist IV will support material requirements by moving product into the facility, moving manufactured product out of the facility, delivering purchased material to the production areas, and delivering small parts (both purchased and manufactured) to the production areas.
Responsibilities
- All activities performed are to follow documented Standard Work.
- Verifies delivery of material to documentation (Pack lists & BOL).
- Responsible for verifying damaged material from carrier prior to signing BOL. Damaged material must be documented, and individuals notified (Manager, Buyer, and Quality Control).
- Receive material into the company business system to meet a 24‑hour period.
- Responsible for accurate count and receipt of material.
- Responsible for accurate staging, put‑away, issuing, and processing of material received into the warehouse.
- Run reports in the business system to measure and perform to KPIs.
- Perform daily cycle counts and record/report results.
- Understand how to navigate through the company business system.
- Use scanning devices to enter data into the company business system.
- Understand how to resolve material discrepancies with supplier deliveries and inventory errors.
- Count material accurately using counting methods and scales.
- Identify aged inventory (OSMI).
- Operate forklift, pallet jacks, and other manual or motorized equipment as required to support material movement.
- Safely load/unload box trucks, vans, flatbeds using forklifts or other material movers.
- Understand safety requirements when operating machinery.
- Lifting, bending, stooping, climbing, and standing for long periods of time.
- Maintain organization and cleanliness of the work center.
- Verify pull signal reporting and quantity pulled are correctly scanned or entered into the business system.
- Verify all material is packaged following Standard Work, protecting from damage, and satisfying customer requirements.
- Prepare and load shipments, verifying all material is available, not damaged, and correctly packaged; execute all steps to validate the material is processed and assigned to the proper shipment load.
- Stack, serpentine band, checkerboard floor spots, air bag and other dunnage as required.
- Maximize load cube, even weight distribution, and follow Standard Work for secure arrangement of the freight load for transport.
- Photograph loaded shipments clearly and accurately to avoid inconclusive evidence in case of claims.
- Stage material and bundles for sweep trucks for delivery to off‑site warehouse.
- Unload material and bundles from sweep trucks for proper storage within the warehouse.
- Accurately verify material being shipped and match it to manifest and sweep truck.
- Accurately verify material being unloaded and match it to manifest and sweep truck.
- Verify return sweeps are cleared and utilize new sweep number for record purposes; ensure safety precautions when loading and unloading.
- Document shipments properly.
- Request cycle count reports.
- Understand inventory material issues and reconcile them.
- Other duties as required.
