Job Description Summary
The Material Specialist will be responsible for accurately accounting for material by unloading, verifying, logging, stocking/picking, and transporting material using a forklift throughout the facility to the appropriate locations in a timely manner, without compromising safety and quality.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Maintain received WIP inventory by identifying, labeling, and placing materials in stock; record inventory locations.
- Use technical expertise and engine knowledge to process parts ensuring configuration accuracy and on-time engine delivery.
- Interpret Receiving & Shipping Documents, Repair Tags, Service Bulletins, etc.
- Support AM Mod X and AM OH Modules.
- Unpackage parts carefully to prevent damage during transit using power tools.
- Utilize Oracle and warehouse management systems for material activities and problem-solving.
- Communicate the status of pending parts with Material Coordinators.
- Alert the team to material shortages that may delay customer jobs.
- Coordinate with supervisors on work progress and completion dates.
- Interpret Illustrated Parts Breakdown, Smart Shop, and Service Bulletins.
- Manage parts credit returns and reallocations.
- Collect data, generate reports, and track status daily.
- Perform pre-use inspections on material-handling equipment for safety.
- Support cycle counting activities and root cause analysis.
- Work diligently with attention to detail and within deadlines.
- Be a self-starter with a positive attitude, working well with others and striving for continuous improvement.
- Function effectively in a team environment while managing individual tasks.
- Perform duties with urgency, safety, and quality focus.
- Communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Train new employees as needed.
- Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing responsibilities.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications/Requirements:
- High School Diploma / GED.
- Minimum 1 year experience in a warehouse, stockroom, or storage yard.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 40 pounds.
- Forklift certification for 4500 pounds and over.
- Basic computer skills.
- Strong verbal, written, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
Desired Characteristics:
- Previous material handling experience.
- Experience with Aero-Derivative Gas Turbines/Aviation engines and modules.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating in English.
- Advanced computer skills (Oracle, MS Excel, warehouse management systems).
- Ability to read engineering drawings, Illustrated Parts Books, and Service Bulletins.
- Ability to multitask effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
