Job summary

Boehringer Ingelheim is seeking a Scientist I/II to execute manufacturing and characterization studies in support of drug product development. You will set up unit operation parameters for multiple processes and troubleshoot critical issues to ensure timely progress.

The role requires characterizing drug product performance with spectroscopic methods, maintaining instruments, and ensuring safety, quality, and proper documentation in a collaborative, timeline-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Experience with unit operations in pharmaceutical/chemical manufacturing and related particulate characterization.
• Bulk powder characterization (bulk density, particle size, flow) is essential.
• Spectroscopic analysis using IR, near-IR, and Raman is preferred.
• Attention to detail and strong written/oral communication skills.
• Ability to work in a timeline-driven team environment.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs on a regular basis.

Job description

Scientist I/II will execute pharmaceutical manufacturing and characterization studies to support drug product development activities and troubleshoot critical issues to support global drug product development in a timely manner. Set up unit operation parameters for various processes and responsible for successful completion of batches. Characterize drug product performances, such as flow, particle sizing, hardness, disintegration and additionally other quality attributes by spectroscopic methods. Conduct maintenance and calibration of manufacturing instruments as well as lab safety, compliance and necessary documentation.

• Adequate or hands on experience of working on various unit operations of pharmaceutical/chemical manufacturing processes and relevant particulate characterization is preferred (direct compression, roller compaction, high shear and fluid bed granulation).
• Experience in bulk powder characterization (bulk density, particle size, flowability, imaging) is essential.
• Experience in analyzing powder solids by spectroscopic techniques such as infrared, near-infrared and Raman is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail, excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work with a team of individuals in a timeline driven setting.
• Ability to frequently lift manufacturing equipments up to 25 lbs.

BS or MS in Chemical/Material engineering, Physics/Chemistry or relevant scientific background with good GPA standing.

Scientist I/II

• Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Engineering with 0-5 years of experience is preferred.
• Master’s Degree in Science or Engineering with 0-3 years of experience is preferred.
