Job summary

Scorpion Therapeutics is seeking a Material Scientist to support multiple business units by providing technical expertise in analytical method development and product quality assurance. The role involves selecting techniques to characterize materials and developing methodologies for R&D and product testing.

You will apply statistical software for process optimization, investigate out-of-spec results, and collaborate with plant, QA, regulatory, and marketing teams to enable product

Qualifications

  • Degree in analytical chemistry or related science.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Preferred: inorganic and organic chemistry experience.

Responsibilities

  • Select analytical technologies and techniques to characterize organic and inorganic materials.
  • Develop analytical methodologies and application testing for products.
  • Use statistical software for process optimization and ingredient/finished product quality control.
  • Investigate and correct lab procedures related to out-of-specification assay results.
  • Collaborate with plant, quality, regulatory, marketing, and sales to support product commercialization.
  • Support day-to-day analysis for product release and new ingredient approval.
  • Assist with compliance activities for new ingredients/supplier qualification.
  • Support ISO 17025 laboratory activities.
  • Provide QA/QC support for manufacturing projects and process optimization.
  • Author technical documents for marketing and technical support.
  • Provide technical support to chemists/technicians; complete special projects and other assigned duties.

Job description

Position Summary

The Material Scientist supports multiple business units and laboratories by providing technical expertise to drive product development and help ensure ongoing product quality and performance. Develops analytical methodology for R&D and participates in planning and executing R&D projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Select analytical technologies and techniques to characterize organic and inorganic materials.
  • Develop analytical methodologies and application testing for products.
  • Use statistical software for process optimization and ingredient/finished product quality control.
  • Investigate and correct lab procedures related to out-of-specification assay results.
  • Collaborate with plant, quality, regulatory, marketing, and sales to support product commercialization.
  • Support day-to-day analysis for product release and new ingredient approval.
  • Assist with compliance activities for new ingredients/supplier qualification.

Competencies / Required & Preferred Skills
  • Analytical method development, troubleshooting, problem-solving.
  • Preferred: ICP-OES, ICP-MS, XRD, XRF, UV-VIS, FT-IR, GC-MS, HPLC, near IR; statistical software; coding knowledge.
  • Strong project management, data analysis, and technical writing; collaboration; independent and cross-functional work; effective communication.
Education & Requirements

Compensation
  • $65,000.00 - $75,000.00.
