Job summary

Pratt & Whitney in Middletown, CT seeks an experienced Material Review Engineer to lead disposition of nonconforming aerospace hardware. You will apply MRB procedures, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and drive technical decisions to maintain product integrity and safety.

Required is a STEM degree with substantial aerospace experience and the ability to obtain MRE certification. Domestic and international travel up to 10% is expected, with an Alternate Work Week schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, investigate, and analyze nonconforming hardware.
  • Support development of rework and repair solutions.
  • Support manufacturing operations through the disposition process.
  • Balance capabilities with engineering requirements for risk-based dispositions.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Operations, and suppliers.
  • Travel up to 10% domestically and internationally.
  • Work Friday-Sunday, 6:00 AM-6:00 PM under Alternate Work Week.

Job description


  • Develop understanding of Pratt & Whitney Material Review Board procedures and ensure adherence to established processes

  • Evaluate hardware nonconformances and provide technically sound dispositions for internally manufactured and supplier-produced aerospace engine hardware

  • Own technical decisions ensuring product integrity, safety, quality, and compliance with engineering requirements

  • Evaluate, investigate, and analyze nonconforming hardware

  • Support development of rework and repair solutions

  • Support manufacturing operations throughout the disposition process

  • Balance manufacturing capabilities with engineering requirements to develop practical, risk-based dispositions

  • Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Operations, and supplier organizations

  • Travel up to 10% domestically and internationally

  • Work Friday-Sunday, 6:00 AM-6:00 PM under the Alternate Work Week schedule


Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 8 years of relevant experience, or an Advanced degree in a related field and 5 years of relevant experience

  • Relevant experience in aerospace design, structures, manufacturing, or quality engineering, preferably supporting gas turbine engines, compression systems, rotating hardware, or hot-section hardware

  • Ability to obtain Material Review Engineer (MRE) certification through Pratt & Whitney's MRB classroom training and on-the-job mentoring

  • U.S. citizenship is required

  • 15+ years of aerospace design or structural engineering experience preferred

  • Current MRB / MRE certification preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage technical teams preferred

  • Experience with process control, Six Sigma, and/or Lean manufacturing tools preferred

  • Strong understanding of aerospace production processes preferred

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills preferred

  • Experience evaluating and resolving hardware nonconformances, deviations, repairs, rework, or engineering dispositions preferred
