Job summary

Belcan Engineering Group in Charleston, SC seeks a Material Review Board Engineer for a 6-month contract to review fuselage, nacelle, and pylon discrepancies and determine acceptability and/or repairability.

You will mentor engineers and facilitate timely MRB certification for yourself and others on the team. A bachelor’s degree in engineering is required with 2+ years in engineering tasks and FAA/OEM knowledge emphasized.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from the listed disciplines is required.
• Minimum 2 years of engineering task experience.
• Understanding of structural load paths and failure modes.
• Experience with static and fatigue analysis.
• US work authorization required.
• Composite repair/rework familiarity preferred.
• Travel up to 50%+.
• Knowledge of aircraft structures, manufacturing, and materials.

Responsibilities

• Formulate, analyze, substantiate, and document dispositions for production non-conformances under FAA and OEM rules.
• Liaise with teams and interact with OEM customers.
• Maintain strong internal and external communication.
• Provide guidance to less experienced staff and act as technical lead.
• Help solve cost, schedule, and performance challenges.

Job description

A Material Review Board Engineer job with Belcan Engineering Group is currently available in Charleston, SC. This 6-month contract assignment with the possibility of extension. To be considered for this role, you will need bachelor's degree in engineering. In this job your primary responsibility will be reviewing fuselage, nacelle, and pylon discrepancies and determining acceptability and/or repairability. You will be expected to train and mentor other engineers and facilitate timely MRB certification for yourself and others on the team.

Bonuses up to $40,000 may be considered for qualified candidates.

Job Duties

• Formulate, analyze, substantiate, and document dispositions for production non-conformances within the boundaries of Federal Aviation Regulations and OEM delegated requirements
• Liaison with other teams as required and interact with OEM customers
• Maintain strong communication with internal project team and customer
• Provides functional guidance to less experienced staff and act in a technical leadership capacity
• Helps solve problems that would affect cost, schedule, and performance

Required

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Aeronautical, Astronautical, Chemical, Material or Aerospace Engineering
• 2 or more years of experience performing engineering tasks
• Understanding of structural load paths and failure modes
• Static and fatigue analysis experience
• Legal authorization to work in the US required
• Familiarity with composite repair and rework methodologies preferred
• Travel Required up to 50% +
• Understanding of aircraft structures analysis, manufacturingprocesses, and materials

Preferred

• Previously held MRB Delegated Authority from an Aerospace Company
• Specific experience with Boeing Airframes
• Interpersonal skills and willingness to work in a team environment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Mentoring experience
• 5 or more years' experience substantiating Material Review Board discrepancies to substantiate nonconforming conditions

Compensation

This position is offering an hourly rate of $65/hour to $100/hour however, Belcan considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to education, experience, geographic location, and discipline.
