Job summary

NORDAM in Tulsa, OK seeks a Materials and Process Engineer II to apply advanced knowledge of materials and processes to evaluate factors and recommend actions for achieving design objectives in aerospace manufacturing.

This role requires 3–6 years of related experience and a 4-year engineering degree; collaboration with metal, ceramic, and polymer suppliers, plus development of fabrication procedures, are key aspects of the position.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.
  • Combination of experience and training may substitute for education.
  • 4-year degree required.

Responsibilities

  • Develops solutions to moderate scope and complexity problems within current policies and practices related to materials and processes in aerospace manufacturing.
  • Reviews plans for new product and factors such as strength, weight, and cost to submit material selection recommendations and collaborates with material producers.
  • Assists in planning laboratory operations to develop material and fabrication procedures; uses software to conduct tests on chemicals, fuels and processes.
  • Monitors and directs operational phases of tests; resolves testing problems and interprets data with technical teams.
  • Reviews failure data and laboratory analyses to identify material/process causes; examines samples using non-destructive and destructive inspection tech.
  • Develops and writes technical specifications to control material properties and manufacturing or repair processes.
