Job summary

Base is seeking a Material Planning Intern to own and plan material for a set of parts, translate the production schedule into actionable supplier signals, and identify shortages weeks before they affect the factory. You will work between Manufacturing, Engineering, Procurement, Quality, and Logistics, building durable processes.

This role suits someone who thinks in systems, handles incomplete information, and enjoys creating repeatable, robust planning workflows.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in supply chain, industrial engineering, operations, or a quantitative field.
• Strong spreadsheet skills and comfort with large datasets; SQL or scripting is a plus.
• Interest in how physical products are built; exposure to MRP/ERP systems is a plus.
• Clear, direct written communication to suppliers and internal teams.
• Bias to action with proven follow-through on tasks.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day material planning for assigned parts and align POs to the build plan.
• Turn the production plan into rolling supplier forecasts and track commitments.
• Identify shortages and supply risk ahead of the floor and communicate findings.
• Support material readiness for engineering changes and new parts.
• Analyze planning data: lead times, safety stock, order quantities, supplier performance.
• Develop and hand off a lasting improvement (dashboard, model, or automated report).
