Job summary

Gulf Island LLC in Houma, LA is seeking a Drafting Material Planner to support production by managing material processes, BOM changes, and coordination with Purchasing. The role involves reading blueprints and performing take-offs for procurement.

The candidate should be proficient in drafting software like AutoCAD, have basic math/trig, and be able to work independently and in a team, with on-site visits to fabrication yards.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform basic arithmetic and trigonometry.
• Ability to read blueprints.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Able to multitask and work independently.
• Reliable commute to Houma office.
• Pass pre-employment physical and drug screen.
• Pass background check.
• Experience drafting or material planning preferred (fabrication or oil and gas).

Responsibilities

• Prepare material takeoffs from design drawings for estimation and procurement.
• Manage material process and participate in cross-functional material process improvement projects.
• Read and interpret blueprints such as structural framing and piping isometrics.
• Determine measurements, angles, dimensions, and quantities for fabrication.
• Update BOM changes and ensure visibility of engineering changes or lost/damaged materials.
• Work with Purchasing to place purchase orders timely.
• Perform periodic field visits and provide on-site technical support.
• Support QHS&E management system through safety and environmental actions.
• Operate AutoCAD and drafting tools on Windows 11.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
