Job Overview

The role of a Material Handling Laborer – WSG/CAPNET is to perform basic material handling and labor tasks to support project teams with equipment movement, inventory management, shipping/receiving, and on-site logistics. This position assists with packing/unpacking equipment, staging components for installation, maintaining storage areas, and transporting materials as needed to support AV, cyber, and general technical projects.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Job Functions:

• Load, unload, and move equipment, materials, and supplies manually or using hand trucks, pallet jacks, or carts.
• Assist with packing, unpacking, and preparing AV, cyber, and related technical equipment for shipment or installation.
• Organize and maintain equipment storage areas and workspaces.
• Transport materials and equipment between work areas or to project sites as needed.
• Assist with shipping/receiving duties including verifying shipments, documenting receipt of materials, and preparing outbound shipments.
• Support inventory tracking by helping to count and record materials and equipment.
• Assist installation teams by delivering tools, materials, and equipment to on-site work locations (including shipboard or field locations).
• Perform general labor and cleanup duties in support of project preparation and closeout.
• Operate under the guidance of program/project managers, engineers, technicians, and warehouse personnel.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support project logistics and material handling needs.

Job Requirements

Mandatory:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Valid state Driver’s License with acceptable driving record pertinent to the position.
• U.S. Citizenship.
• Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background and drug test.
• Must be able to travel up to 75% of the time to support installations, testing, and customer engagements.
• Must possess at least one of the following active CompTIA certifications: A+, Network+, or Security+, or have the ability to obtain the required certification within 90 days of hire.
• Must be able to obtain a SECRET security clearance
• Must be willing to work extended hours including weekends and holidays when requested.
• Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background check and pre-hire drug test.

Preferred:

• Use of Microsoft Office 365 environment experience
• Excel/Word/PowerPoint/SharePoint/Planner/TEAMS
• Ability to read and interpret block wiring diagrams.
• Technical school / certifications
• Interest in the Audio Visual (AV) industry
• Commercial AV experience in integration
• Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in various environments is crucial, especially while on travel.

Working Conditions:

• Work is generally performed indoors (sedentary).
• Must be able to tolerate and work in hot environments.
• Occasional extended travel may be necessary, up to 75% CONUS/OCONUS.
• Work areas include corporate facilities, S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard vessels and Military bases, and shipyards.

Physical Requirements:

• While performing duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand and/or walk for long periods at a time, sit, use of hands and fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, climb ladders, balance, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk or hear, or smell.
• Ability to carry 50 pounds unaided or 90-pound loads aided.
