Job summary

Torrey Holistics in Fort Wayne, IN is seeking a skilled Material Handling Equipment Field Technician. You’ll diagnose, repair, and maintain forklifts and related gear on-site at customer locations, traveling as needed.

You will perform safety inspections and document service work, translating complex findings into clear customer updates. The role requires hands-on repair of engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems, with emphasis on accuracy, safety, and customer communication.

Qualifications

  • Proven background as forklift technician or mechanic.
  • Knowledge of engines, hydraulics, electrical systems.
  • Ability to diagnose mechanical/electrical faults independently.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to customer sites.
  • Basic computer proficiency for reporting.
  • OSHA safety training or certification a plus.
  • Technical certification in heavy equipment or diesel mechanics
  • Experience with Toyota/Hyster/Yale/Crown forklifts.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair forklifts and related material handling equipment on-site.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and safety inspections to minimize downtime.
  • Repair or replace engines, transmissions, hydraulics, brakes, and electrical components.
  • Interpret manuals, schematics, and technical docs to guide repairs.
  • Complete service reports and maintain accurate records.
  • Explain equipment condition and recommended repairs to customers clearly.
  • Maintain safety standards and follow company procedures.
