Job summary

Kelly Services is seeking a Field Service Technician (Direct Hire) to service forklifts and material handling equipment for customers in and around West Salem, WI. This full-time role offers a daytime Monday–Friday schedule with a company truck/van, laptop, and cell phone provided for field work.

You’ll diagnose and repair gas, diesel, and electric-powered equipment, working independently at customer sites and coordinating with dispatch to ensure efficient service.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years hands-on forklift, automotive, or heavy equipment repair experience.
• Ability to diagnose and repair gas, diesel, and electric equipment.
• Strong communication and customer-oriented approach.
• Highly organized with ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Basic computer skills; comfortable using laptops for diagnostics.
• Own the necessary repair tools.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs (75 lbs occasionally).

Salary/Pay Rate/Compensation: $25.00–$44.00 per hour, based on experience

Hours: Monday–Friday, 7:00am–3:30pm

What’s a typical day as a Field Service Technician? You’ll be:

• Working in the field at customer locations in and around the West Salem area.
• Completing assigned field service jobs to repair and maintain forklifts and other material handling equipment at customer sites.
• Communicating with the Road Lead Technician regarding unusual service issues or for technical support.
• Attending service training classes to stay updated on new products and industry advancements.
• Completing and submitting all required paperwork daily, including timecards and maintenance reports with customer signatures.
• Coordinating with the dispatcher or service office on job status and availability.
• Identifying jobs requiring shop repair due to complexity or safety and recommending accordingly.
• Building relationships with territory sales representatives to share potential sales leads.
• Adhering to all safety rules and company policies at all times.

This job might be an outstanding fit if you:

• Have at least 2 years of hands‑on experience repairing forklifts, automotive, heavy equipment, construction equipment, truck, or farm equipment (must be full‑time mechanic experience).
• Possess strong skills in diagnosing and repairing gas, diesel, and electric‑powered industrial equipment.
• Demonstrate strong customer orientation with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Are highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities and assignments efficiently.
• Have basic computer proficiency and are comfortable using laptops for diagnostics and reporting.
• Own the necessary tools to perform repairs
• Hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Are physically able to lift up to 50 lbs. frequently (occasionally up to 75 lbs.), and perform duties involving standing, kneeling, reaching, and operating machinery.
