Job description

Planet Aid is a nonprofit organization that collects and recycles used textiles to protect the environment and support sustainable development in impoverished communities around the world. We are seeking a full-time, Material Handler.

The Material Handler is responsible for assisting with transportation by loading and unloading donations from trucks and contractors into the warehouse for processing. Ideal candidates are team players who demonstrate high levels of personal accountability and responsibility. The role involves processing unloaded materials, recycling, and general cleaning using various mechanisms.

Shift: 1st shift, starting at 6AM. Saturdays are mandatory.

Responsibilities:

• Load and unload materials onto or from pallets, bins, or trucks
• Assist in scanning cart information into the computer system
• Properly bale materials and donated goods
• Operate warehouse equipment safely, including propane/electric forklifts
• Maintain and properly store equipment
• Keep the warehouse clean and safe for employees and trucks
• Empty carts and sort materials into categories
• Operate bailing machines and forklifts (skilled and senior level)

Requirements:

• HS Diploma or equivalent; experience may substitute diploma
• At least 1 year of warehouse experience as a material handler
• Ability to operate warehouse machinery safely and efficiently
• Physical ability to perform duties and lift up to 50 lbs
• Ability to understand written and oral instructions
• Follow all safety standards and policies
• Ability to multitask and assist the production team as needed
