Position Overview
Under direct supervision, the Material Handler Associate learns and executes a variety of warehouse and logistics tasks to support daily operations. Key responsibilities include receiving, identifying, storing, picking, and moving goods and materials throughout the facility. This role offers hands-on training across warehouse machinery, logistics workflows, and material handling processes.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
Material Handling & Inventory Staging
- Perform manual labor functions, including picking inventory, counting cargo and products, hand staging, and loading goods.
- Receive, store, and distribute materials, tools, equipment, and products within assigned warehouse areas.
- Sort and place items on racks, shelves, pallets, or bins according to predetermined sequences such as size, type, color, or product code.
Communication & Collaboration
- Maintain excellent internal and external customer service by collaborating effectively with team members, warehouse management, and production staff.
- Provide timely communications and instructions to support daily warehouse flow and assist other operational areas as needed.
Equipment Operation & Facility Maintenance
- Safely operate warehouse machinery and material handling equipment, including hand trucks, pallet jacks, forklifts, palletizers, and related tools.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe, efficient work environment.
- Perform routine warehouse maintenance, including sweeping floors, cleaning dock and staging areas, maintaining packing and racking zones, and conducting basic preventative equipment upkeep.
Additional Duties
- Read, comprehend, and complete basic operational checklists, forms, and related documentation.
- Perform other duties and special tasks as assigned by management.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education & Experience: High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Willingness to be trained on warehouse processes and equipment.
- Skills: Strong organizational skills, clear communication proficiency, technical capacity, and the ability to safely operate hand and power tools.
- Work Relationships: Reports to the Material Handler Supervisor; works closely with warehouse management and all production workers. Supervises no direct reports.
