General Dynamics Electric Boat is seeking to hire Material Handlers in order to support meeting the needs of company growth driven by the Columbia Class Submarine Program within the South Yard Assembly Building. The Material Handlers will be responsible for the receipt, movement, storage and logistics of shipboard as well as non-shipboard material within the South Yard Assembly Building. The Material Handlers will also be responsible for verification and recording of markings on delivered material as well as packaging/ship-out of outgoing material.
The selected individuals must have a strong work ethic, be detail oriented and possess a background of having worked in a fast-paced, dynamic industrial environment utilizing a variety of equipment such as carts, pallet trucks and electric stackers. The selected individuals must also have a background in Electric Boat business systems such as Electronic Desktop, Electronic Work Package (EWP), and must have an understanding of material control/protection policies, procedures and best practices utilized within the Groton Shipyard. Experience in the handling and protection of Special Emphasis and Level 1 material is expected.
