Job summary

Alliance Ground International (AGI) in Tampa seeks a Material Handler to support on-time flights and safe ground operations in a high-pace aviation setting. You will perform cargo loading/unloading, verify counts and weights, and ensure proper documentation and releases.

Role requires operating equipment like forklifts and pallet jacks, maintaining inventory, and adhering to safety rules. Flexibility for shifts incl. nights, weekends, and holidays is required.

Responsibilities

As a Material Handler , you will be essential in ensuring that flights run on time by providing efficient ground support services.

Job responsibilities:

• Facilitate the loading and unloading of cargo to and from trucks
• Check freight for proper piece count, weight, dimensions and documents as appropriate when accepting or delivering cargo
• Issue appropriate warehouse receipt or collect signed copy of delivery receipt
• Ensure that cargo has a proper release issued by office personnel controlling the cargo before cargo is delivered to consignee or agent
• Operate basic cargo handling equipment such as forklift, aircraft pallets and pallet jacks
• Break down cargo from import flights, sort as required , check freight against manifest and store in proper manner and location in warehouse
• Build up cargo for export flights, following instructions of supervisor or person directing the buildup of the freight
• Keep inventory of on hand freight, warehouse supplies, airline equipment and containers
• Maintain security of the cargo and company's equipment. Observe that cargo has not been tampered with or that pilferage has taken place. Report incidents to supervisor as needed.
• Maintain work area in clean condition, reporting damaged or broken equipment as needed
• Accept related assignments from lead agents, supervisors or management
• Complete paperwork and forms connected with work assignments pertaining to procedures and enter data into c ompany's information system as required .
• Follow company procedures and protocols to ensure we are always operating in a safe and responsible manner.
• Complete all training when required by company, airport governing authority , or customer when required .
• Be on time, be prepared, and be safe. Be willing to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

• This job requires p hysical s tamina and s trength - Material Handler s must be able to lift / carry / push / pull and move items 70 pounds (32 kg) or more on a regular basis and repetitively lift items weighing 40 to 50 pounds on raised surfaces.
• Must be able to walk, climb, bend, kneel, crawl, and stoop on a frequent basis and for extended periods.
• Must be able to be alerted to moving vehicles or aircraft and use radio equipment to communicate with crew and airport authorities.
• Must be able to w ork around jet and machinery noises.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :

• Good Communication Skills : Material Handler s must be able to communicate information and instructions verbally and/or via radio equipment effectively in a professional manner with the flight crew, gate agents, and other ground crew to coordinate the movement and handling of trucks , e quipment , and cargo.
• Basic math skills: Material Handler s may be required to calculate piece count, weight and dimensions.
• Computer skills: Material Handler s may be required to use computer systems to track cargo.
• Problem-solving skills: Material Handler s may be called upon to troubleshoot issues during loading and unloading.
